Module 1 introduces newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) and the assessment of transplant eligibility. It reviews the epidemiology of the disease, the patient- and disease-related factors that determine eligibility for autologous stem cell transplantation, the challenges in making that assessment, and the NDMM treatment pathway. After this module you will be able to identify the key factors determining transplant eligibility, and compare treatment approaches for transplant-eligible and transplant-ineligible patients with NDMM.
